Travel Insurance Refund due to Visa Denial
If you purchased travel insurance and you would need to have policy cancelled in order to get a refund of the premiums you paid, insurance companies always look for a valid reason for cancellation.
The only valid reason for cancellation is when you are not granted a visa. With this, you would need to secure a a visa denial letter - a written document from the embassy stating that your visa application has been denied. Together with the denial letter, you may also need to submit a copy of all the pages of your passport - to ensure that you have not left the country.
Taxes are not refundable. Cancellation or processing fees may apply, which leaves with around half refundable premiums because of administration charges and cancellation fees for documentary stamps. Charges for refund may go as high as 15% on the paid premium
